The New North

Dear Students, Graduates, Parents, and Friends:

To start the 201 2-201 3 school year, the Plymouth North High School community entered
a new home. Our state-of-the-art facility affords every imaginable opportunity for
students and staff to excel in the 21 st Century. We are grateful for our new school and
proud of the culture we have created in it. As engaged learners, our students are
involved in authentic assessments, project-based learning, co-operative learning
environments, and technologically infused lessons. Teacher expertise is complimented
with the tools necessary to stimulate, create, and enhance each student's learning
potential. As we exited our former school, despite the excitement for our new building,
we left fond memories behind.

We speak of culture at North - a positive one - where respect for each other and the
learning process must hold true. The standards established academically, culturally,
socially, and civically will define us. As the first graduating class of the "New" North, the
Class of 201 3 has set the bar high and I'm proud of the example they set for themselves,
others, and our school.

As principal at North, I'm grateful for the leadership the Class of 201 3 has demonstrated
during our transition. My wish for you as you graduate is for continued success and a life
filled with exceptional health, happiness, and love.

Yours in Education,

Kathleen E. McSweeney

Principal

Prom Fdsbion Show

Last year's Juniors put on quite a show at tiie annual Prom Fashion Show!
Masters of Ceremony, Frank Schuiz and Jack Murphy, kept the audience
and the glittering parade of gowned girls and bow-tied boys laughing,
dancing, and having a great time. Who can forget the hula hoops, yes
dancing. Sawyer's prom date, a pair of 007s and a beautiful bond girl!

Homecoming Game

Homecoming Unites Past and Present

This year's homecoming had a very happy outcome for the Eagles, with an
1 8-1 3 win over Silver Lake. Christian Carr's two touchdowns proved vital
to the team's victory; however, the game would not have been won
without the entire teams effort-- Bravo! The crowd was also well
entertained by the PNHS Marching Band, Cheerleaders, and Dance Team.

Homecoming Dance

The Traditions Continue!

PNHS knows how to celebrate in style, and the 201 2 Homecoming Dance
proved to be no exception! With a new gym to break in, students wasted
no time getting down! Taking a cue from the king, queen, and court,
students danced the night away to top hits by Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and
Katy Perry, while also managing to perfect their "Gangam Style."

Halloween

Haunting the Halls of PNHS

This Halloween, the halls of PNHS were graced with quite the cast of
characters. From bloodied zombies, to food products, to insurance
providers, it seemed as if there was a surprise around every corner! Most
of all, students were happy that the abundance of cats and mice were
able to put their differences aside for the day and coexist peacefully!

Presidential Debate

The 201 2 Presidential Race at PNHS

While people across the nation were preparing for the Presidential Race
between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, PNHS was holding debates of
their own to raise student awareness around important issues like the
economy and education. These debates, sponsored by Student Council,
Debate Club, and the History Department, culminated in a school wide
election. The school's winner? President Barack Obama!

Class Theme

From Super Heroes flying through the hallways to
bundling up for a snow storm, students at Plymouth
North witnessed an array of different class themes
during spirit week! Each grade filled bookcases
displaying a class theme. Freshmen dressed as their
favorite characters from Toy Story, Sophomores as
their favorite Gods and Goddesses, Juniors as iconic
Super Heroes, and Seniors dressed for a Winter
Wonderland. The Sophomores won the bookcase
award and the Seniors won best costumes.

The only thing on the mind of Plymouth North students the day of Pep
Rally was. ..Beat South! Students dressed from head to toe in school colors
as they gathered in the gym to prepare for the big Thanksgiving Football
Game. The students enjoyed performances from Dance Team, the
Cheerleaders, and Manleaders. Students also participated in relay races,
pie in the face, and tug of war in the new gymnasium!

Spectators packed the stands at this year's Thanksgiving game between
Plymouth North and Plymouth South. During the pre-game ceremony,
the field was rededicated to Mario J. Romano, and the cheerleaders
presented a check for the Chad M. Kiersted scholarship fund to the
Kiersted family. For the first time in four years Plymouth South was
victorious.

Dear Billy,

You were the best Valentines Day gift anyone could ever ask
for. You have been everything a parent could ever hope for
and more. It has been a joy to watch you grow over the years

Dear Billy,

I was hoping for a son to be just like me but what I got was a
son who is twice the person I could ever be. I love you!

People talk about "nature vs. nurture" and what makes a person who they are. 1 have always
believed it is a combination of the two. in your case, "Nature" seems to make sense because you
came to us and so early in your life, we could see this strong minded, kind, funny, loving, beautiful
and compassionate little person that you were. Over the years, you grew into a young adult with all
these special qualities that make you Maddie. Every day along the journey. Dad and I have been
amazed by you. Your choices are sound and your reasons have meaning. You live a purposeful life
with each step you take. You have helped shape who we are as people and you have always been
the best part of each of us. You are very loved by so many people and it is so easy to understand
why. Simply, you are very easy to love. Thank you for everything you have given us.

From the love of my little sister.

From the love of a friend who's more like a sister.

When Liz and Sam graduated I was able to

Congratulations to our son Alec Provo

ofOld Mill Lane!

Whose priority in high school wasn't always

honnework but was to entertain.

He is charming and handsome with a

mischievous grin,

On the track team he runs really fast to win.

Thru the years of "elepants", Toys R Mine,

real working car washes and Zing Billy Blazes

Can't forget Man Leaders, Pink Gang, and

Kev's Man Van, yup Alec simply amazes.

He's one of a kind, Bella claims he's Mom's favorite.
According to Dad that's not true and Al better savor

it!

No worries Bella, we have a surprise don't look grim,

Your day has arrived

Graduation day is finally here.

And so now ends your high school career.

Always remember the friends you hold dear,

and look toward your future without any fear.

This is the day you've been preparing for,

Since the day you walked through that first

classroom door.

Now if s time to say goodbye,

And spread your wings - you're ready to fl^

So shed a tear and share a smile.

And be sure to remember all the while.

That although it may be time to move on,

Today's memories will last your whole life long.

We are so proud of you.

Mom and Dad

Congratulations! I am so proud of you. A lot of work goes into the
accomplishment of graduating, and I am impressed by all you have done to
get you to this day. I appreciate being your big sister. You are the rock I rely
on (although you may not exactly be aware of this fact.) You have the world
in your hand little brother; I can't wait to see what amazing things you'll do.
You can be sure I will be there supporting you every step of the way. Taking
similar words you wrote to me when I graduated, "even if I had another little
brother you would still be my favorite." Love you, Lauren

Looking Back

m:

Change is a constant in life. As we look back on our days at Plymouth North we mark the

changes in the world around us, our personal growth and of course, our beautiful new

school building. We recognize another constant: the loving support of our

tight-knit community, our families, our teachers and our friends. Looking back we see

that ours has been a wonderful journey filled with memories we will share forever.
